Amazing Technology

I am learning so much in my classes at Central. I never knew about all these tools available to use in the classroom. I have heard of some, like blogging, but I hadn't heard of teachers using them for classroom purposes. I am excited to learn about the new ways we can involve children with technology.

I know--I am enjoying actually "chatting" with people from our class! I never knew that there is so much out there for us (teachers) to do with our class. I am hoping that my students will be able to do this as well. It is hard though, because the majority of my students do not have computers at home. I am trying now to have my students have 15-20 minutes at the computer to build up their computer/game skills. I have such cute American Sign Language Games, but not enough time for them to play them. It makes it hard because they are either in or out pretty much all day due to being mainstreamed. It makes it extremely difficult to allow them to have "computer time", especially when I am supposed to teach them Reading & Language Arts for about 2 hours a day, five days a week! That time I value because I only have so much with them to learn something new or to even recall past information. But, I changed my strategy for January. Each of my students will get at least 15 minutes of computer time-maybe not every day--but, at least 1-2 times a week. I want them to be able to learn what I am learning! Any thoughts????

Angela, much like you, I am new to the variety of resources that we have available to us. Like you said, we know that they are there, but it's all the uses that the "other" teachers are taking advantage of. I really look forward to using these new forms of communication. Well, maybe they're not new....just new to me. Good luck in your experiences!

Blogging is actually great. I learned another way to communicate without emailing. Chatting with each other is fun. Learning a little more about each other makes it a little easier to ask questions about the assignments. It appears that James,Clarrisa, and a few others know something about bookmarking, web chatting, etc. Technology is amazing because it makes communication fun. I am always anxious to get back to my blog to see if anyone responded.
